You can reset monitors on a VW/Audi the old-fashioned way by driving the vehicle for 1-2 days, or, you can follow the complicated instructions in the factory repair manual.
The fastest and most efficient method is use the Guided Readiness Script function (step-by-step instructions) in the Ross-Tech VCDS pc-based scan tool.
After connecting the VCDS to a vehicle, navigate to the OPEN CONTROLLER window and click the button labeled [Readiness - 15], it will open the READINESS STATUS window and will display the status of the monitors.
Click the [Set Readiness] button to activate the Guided Readiness Scripts function.
A new window will open, follow the instructions displayed (as shown below) to set the readiness status.
The Readiness function is available on OBD-II compliant Engine Controllers (96-up US-Model) or EOBD compliant (2001-up European-market models).
NOTE: The Ross Tech VCDS also provides Readiness Script for TDI engines including US-market Common-Rail TDI-140 engines, not even the VAS-5051/5052 does that.
